The Richmond Supperclub
For the finest cuisine in the Karoo ...
40 Loop Street, Richmond
The Richmond Supper Club
Die Richmond Supper Klub is a wonderfully cosy family restaurant situated on Loop Street in "downtown" Richmond. Formerly a domestic residence and one of the oldest houses in town, it was built in the late 1830's. In its heyday the house served as a dormitory for farm girls who were studying at the local school.
Die Supper Klub will be opening once again on October 6th with long time hospitality providers and sublime restaurateurs, recently from Graaff Reinet, Michael Smit & Johann Swiegelaar. They will be welcoming Richmonders and visitors to sample the best of the Karoo. We are open to travellers and locals looking for good old fashioned Karoo hospitality and the finest cuisine. We serve light meals throughout the day, lunches in the dining room or on the stoep between 11am and 2pm and dinner after 6:30 in the evening. Booking, although not essential, is greatly appreciated.
Supper Klub Dining Room
In addition to the main dining room Die Klub offers a smaller more intimate dining room, the General's Room, suitable for private functions. Die Klub is available for private dinners, receptions and other functions.
The menu changes weekly and always includes flame-grilled Karoo lamb chops, the finest steaks and ribs, as well as a selection of pasta dishes, curries, Thai and Mediterranean dishes, and a choice of fresh garden salads and desserts to die for.
Evening Rush Hour
The somewhat bizarre pub is filled with an eclectic range of curios and memorabilia, opens onto the back cobblestone courtyard and is the weekend "local" of the farming community.
Da Pub
Leading from the courtyard is the old former stables which houses the wine cellar. Soon DRSK will be bottling its own Stellenbosch wines under the label "Babe Wine".
Die Klub is pleased to offer the finest coffees and teas on the stoep and it should be noted that we boast the very best espressos, French vanilla cappuccinos and long blacks for a 1000 kilometres..

...and in full swing
The Klub has a "Gentleman's Smoking Room" and library, which houses a wonderful collection of Africana books, which may be read on the premises but not removed.
In addition to the characterful, homespun entertainment provided by the local patrons, Die Supper Klub holds regularTuiskonserte (home concerts) in the vintage dining room. Whether its cabaret artiste Melina Smit, local piano and vocal performers Sidwell and Michael, or the late and wonderful Patrick Mynhardt, an evening at Die Supper Klub will always be a night to be remembered.
